FULL Throttle Adjustment

Some day, remove the hoses leading to your 300zx throttle bodies. Then, open the throttle -- you will likely see that your throttle bodies are not opening fully horizontal. Is this bad? Are you losing power? I have not read anything thus far that says it will make any difference, but if you want to adjust them to open fully (sometimes called the TB Mod), it's really quite simple. I've read there is a way to do this by bending some metal on one side of the valve assembly, but I just looked at the center throttle stop nut and quickly saw there was room for adjustment.

Loosen the lock nut on the center stop nut. Then remove the nuts and bolt. Find a suitable nut to replace the original that will allow the throttle to open wider without causing contact with the throttle valve parts against the plenum. for me, this took using a nut and a thin washer. Perfect.

Does it make a difference? I don't know. Some say that the direction of airflow actually benefits from having the TB's open slightly tilted as they are stock. Another issue that I don't know about is that by adjusting the TB's, the reading on the TPS will now likely be higher than 4 ohm, which is "out of spec". I don't know if a higher reading is bad or not, but it doesn't seem to have affected the way my car runs at all. Either way, this does not seem to be an important, necessary, needed and highly effective thing to do --- just thought I'd mention it since it confused me at one point : )
